Press Release: River Paw Press Announces the Results of the 2025 Earth Amulet Poetry Prize

Irvine, California, United States: River Paw Press is pleased to announce the winners of the 2025 Earth Amulet Poetry Prize, recognizing poets whose works demonstrate artistic excellence, ecological consciousness, and a resonant poetic vision.

JUDGES: The 2025 Earth Amulet Poetry Prize was judged by Candice Louisa Daquin and Kalpna Singh-Chitnis.

🏆 WINNER

Maryam Imogen Ghouth (SPAIN)

A multidisciplinary literary artist working across written, audio, and visual poetry, Maryam Imogen Ghouth’s work has appeared in numerous literary journals and award-winning poetry films screened at over 30 international film festivals. Her practice bridges poetry, sound, and cinema, expanding the expressive possibilities of the poetic form.

🥈 FINALIST

Vinita Agrawal (INDIA)

Vinita Agrawal is the author of six poetry collections and the editor of two climate-change anthologies. A recipient of major literary honors including the Jayanta Mahapatra National Award for Literature, the Proverse Prize (Hong Kong), and the Rabindranath Tagore Literary Prize, she is also a co-editor of the Yearbook of Indian Poetry in English and serves on the Advisory Board of the Tagore Literary Prize.

🥉 SEMI-FINALIST

Scott William Westcott (USA)

Scott William Westcott is a poet and journalist based in Erie, Pennsylvania. Rooted in attentiveness to nature and everyday life, his poetry seeks moments of calm, clarity, and reflection amid the accelerating noise of the modern world.

Honorable Mentions

Alexander Scott Baker, Jharna Choudhury, Molly O’Dell, Diane Funston, Gloria Heffernan, Larry Kilman, Margie Klein, Caroline Anne Pollard, Stephen Sanders, Ron Shapiro, Jonathan Ukah, and William Weissinger.

Prize and Recognition

All three award recipients receive a cash prize in recognition of their achievement. The Winner is honored with a Certificate of Excellence, the Finalist with a Certificate of Merit, and the Semi-Finalist with a Certificate of Distinction, reflecting the prize’s tiered acknowledgment of literary accomplishment.

Publication

The winning poems, along with selected works by Honorable Mention poets and a number of outstanding individual poems from the submission pool, will be published in a curated Earth Amulet Poetry Prize Anthology. The anthology will bring together diverse poetic voices engaging deeply with the natural world, environmental ethics, and humanity’s evolving relationship with the Earth. The title of the anthology, scheduled for release on World Environment Day, June 5, 2026, and its complete lineup will be announced soon.
